October 2011 Projects of the Denver Worker Cooperative

We are starting to look at our skill sets and we are beginning to investigate some things each other are doing.

I personally am selling Christmas Cards right now and have invited others to join me in that venture. http://joannawhitney.com/cards2011/ I have dropped some off at a salon in Lakewood, some will be sold on Ebay with Sarah and I installed the paypal buttons today on my site. In addition, Gail and I are doing a craftsfair on November 5 which will be fun! All of us in the co-op get along pretty well I think.

Tomorrow I am going to go help Kristine and Sarah refinish some furniture because Sarah’s thing that she does is get used furniture and resell it. We are all looking for a place to do the work and store things right now because she doesn’t have space.

David, Gail and I are about to get serious about spending some quality time building the Denver Cooperative Market – I have placed a couple of ads on Craigslist for people who are specifically interested in coming on board with that idea and Gail is great at creating events to fundraise. The Mercury Cafe has said that they will give us the side room for free to fundraise for the Denver Ccoperative Market. Personally this is my favorite Coop idea. I think it would be a real hub of community activity, a source from which many other coops could spring and a solid and positive way to skate through this hideous oncoming Depression. I also have a pet project that dovetails right into this project which regards Food Waste and Redistribution to Charity.

We have a few other ideas on the back burner waiting for more information.
