New Artwork Created For Radical Fundraising

The newest artwork that started happening before the Coop and that might have actually set off the idea of the Coop to begin with are the Doodle Drawings.http://www.joannawhitney.com/drawings/album/ The doodle drawings got started when I read a book called You Already Know What To Do, by Sharon Franquemont. This book is about developing intuition and in it there is a suggestion regarding asking drawings what they mean. Wow! I had never thought of that. I have always drawn these weird people that I never could relate to but it never occurred to me to ask them who they were or what they wanted from me – well I started doing that at the end of August and  I also started to ask these drawings questions – like I started doing a big doodle and asking a question and then drawing what I saw and then finding out what the drawing was trying to tell me. It has been startling – because I have a whole visual language in addition to my written language that has nuances that I could never express verbally without the pictures as a source. I am learning so much and shortly after I started doing that, the idea about the Worker Cooperative came into my view. I have always interacted with the Unseen through visions and symbols but the drawing thing has added an entirely other dimension to it.

Then to go fly signs I invented these little collages on cardboard that I am going to take to the Crafts Fair and also use as Rewards in the Kickstarter Campaign.http://joannawhitney.com/files/art4help.html

New interesting art – some new mediums – ball point pen, cardboard, trash, people – I like it. I have been bored to tears for a long long time, and now things are taking off in radically new directions.

I am an artist and I am living as an artist. I hope to get used to it soon – because it can be pretty scary at times although I am always taken care of.
